Young Entrepreneurs (JP)
The Jeunes promoteurs grant encourages entrepreneurship among young people by helping them create a business and providing technical and financial support.

Eligibility criteria:*
  • Be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant and be a permanent resident of Quebec
  • Be between 18 and 35 years old
  • Have a business plan
  • Have relevant experience or training
  • Be prepared to work full-time in the business
  • Create at least two permanent full-time jobs, including that (those) of the promoter(s), in the first two years of business operation

Note: These are the basic eligibility criteria. The project will then be submitted to a selection panel to determine whether it will receive the Jeunes Promoteurs grants requested.

*Other criteria may be considered depending on the borough in which the request is made.
Financial support:
The Jeunes promoteurs grant is divided into three components that can each be the subject of a separate application:
  • Component A: A grant of up to $5,000 may be attributed to hire a recognized firm to carry out a market study. The amount of the grant cannot exceed 75% of the cost of the study.

  • Component B: A grant of up to $6,000 per promoter (maximum of two grants per project involving two promoters or more) may be attributed for the creation of a first business. Promoters must demonstrate that they themselves have invested in the business, in cash or assets, to an equivalent of the grant amount requested. For a request for two grants, each promoter must prove their own investment.

  • Component C: A grant of up to $1,000 per promoter (up to two promoters) may be attributed for training relevant to the business idea. This sum is only granted to those who have already received a Component B grant.
Technical support:
If you do not have a business plan – which is one of the JP eligibility requirements – the Starting a small business training session can help you develop one.
Application process:
If you meet all the eligibility criteria, please complete the online application form by answering our questionnaire (don’t forget to attach your CV and your business plan). After your file is evaluated, a consultant will contact you within ten business days to coach you through the rest of the process.
